Skyrim is no stranger when it comes to gathering resources and crafting items. The Heartfire DLC added additional new features along with crafting materials to Skyrim’s already extensive list of resources.
The Quarried stone, in particular, is a type of resource that many players deemed very hard to get. Unfortunately, it’s true because you can’t buy this resource from merchants or blacksmiths.
Quarried stone’s rarity is due to it being exclusive for construction purposes. Aside from building your manor, you won’t need it for anything else.
When you start building, you’ll only get a limited amount of quarried stones from the chest near your homestead. Then, after you’ve constructed the basic layout of your mansion, you can directly buy the quarried stone from your steward.
But if you prefer getting a steady supply of quarried stone, you can try mining it from stone quarries. Lets discuss !
From Homestead Chests
In the Heartfire DLC expansion, you can buy three different lands to build your manor. i.e., Heljarchen Hall, Lakeview Manor, and Windstad Manor.
After you’ve acquired these properties, you’ll find a drafting table, a carpenter’s workbench, a forging anvil, and a chest with basic supplies in each location.
Each chest has 30 quarried stones in them. Therefore, you can collect the stones from all three chests, leaving you with a total of 90 quarried stones in your inventory.
From Stewards
You’ll need to appoint a steward for your homestead after constructing a basic layout of your house. Then, you can assign them to bring construction materials.
- Talk to your assigned steward and choose the “I’d like you to buy some building materials for me.” dialogue option.
- Pick stone. It will cost you 100 gold per 20 pieces of quarried stone.
- Your steward will deliver the stones to the chest beside the drafting table.
From Stone Quarry
Mining at stone quarries is a more straightforward method to gather quarried stones quickly. You can get 4000 quarried stones from a single stone quarry, which is more than enough to build all three manors.
However, after depleting the stone quarry completely, you’ll need to wait for about an in-game month for it to get replenished.
There are a lot of stone quarry locations to mine the Quarried stone, but the most convenient location is by the Lakeview Manor. Here, you’ll also find a pickaxe beside the stone quarry.
From Console Command
If you’re on PC, you can also use the console command to cheat and add quarried stones to your inventory. The console command is a debugging tool that you can use to add or change any elements in the game.
- Press the tilde key {~} on your keyboard.
- Type in
player.additem 0300306c
followed by the number of stones you need. For example, if you need 50 stones, type inplayer.additem 0300306c 50
- Press the Enter key.
- Exit the console menu.
How To Mine Quarried Stone?
You will need a pickaxe to mine any type of ore in Skyrim. If you don’t have a pickaxe, you can buy it from blacksmiths.
There is also a good chance you can find a pickaxe lying on the ground inside excavation sites or caves. e.g., Cidhna Mine, Lost Prospect Mine, etc.
Equip the pickaxe and head to a stone quarry. Face the ore vein and press the interact button to start mining. This process will take some time, netting you 4 quarried stones at a time.
Alternatively, you can also mine the ore by attacking the ore vein while holding the pickaxe.
How to Efficiently Mine Quarried Stone?
We have now covered the location of quarried stone and how you can extract it from an ore vein. While mining quarried stone is convenient, it can also be tedious.
The mining animation is relatively slow, which would take you about an hour to deplete the ore vein completely.
To shorten the overall mining process, you can attack the ore vein instead of mining it via the interact button. This is because the attack animation is much faster than the mining animation.
To have better chances of getting the quarried stone quickly, you can dual-wield pickaxes and start hacking at the stone quarry.
You can further increase the speed of your attacks by acquiring a perk from the skills tree and using your shouts ability.
The Dual Flurry perk increases your attack speed by an additional 35%, whereas the Elemental Fury shout (unlocking all three words) increases your attack speed by 100% for up to 15 seconds.
The abilities stack on each other, and their combination increases your attack speed exponentially.
Using these methods can cut down your total mining time from hours to minutes, making the whole ordeal much easier.
