Harvesting the elven blood is a key step in the Discerning the Transmundane questline. Here, you must collect the blood of five different types of elves, including High Elf, Wood Elf, Dark Elf, Snow Elf (Falmer), and Orsimer (Orcs).
There are a lot of Wood Elf NPC in the game, such as Faendal in Riverwood or Anoriath in Whiterun.
However, in order to harvest their blood, you have to eliminate them first. This will turn all the guards and townsfolk of the hold hostile toward you and will also add a large bounty on your head.
A much better way to collect Wood Elf blood is to collect it from elven bandit enemies or from elves that have already died long before.
There are multiple locations where you can find a corpse of a Wood Elf, and I’ve listed them all below.

Honeystrand Cave
The most convenient place to look for a dead Wood elf is the Honeystrand Cave. It is located south of Ivarstead.
Simply enter the cave, and you’ll find a Wood Elf lying on the ground next to a treasure chest.
There are also a couple of bears inside the cave that you can either eliminate or avoid by being quick enough.
Broken Fang Cave
Another easily accessible location where you can find a Wood Elf is the Broken Fang Cave. The cave’s located on the west side of Whiterun, just next to the Sleeping Tree Camp.
At the end of the cave, you find a dead Wood Elf either inside the prison cell or right next to it.
Here you’ll also have to fight against a couple of vampires, so make sure to pack in some Potion of Cure Disease or Garlic Breads to avoid vampirism.
Hag Rock Redoubt
The Hag Rock Redoubt is located at the far west corner of Skyrim. More specifically, it’s southwest of Markath and east of Dead Cone Rock.
Here, you can find a dead Wood elf inside a tent near the top of the camp. Follow the steps below to locate the Wood elf.
- After reaching Hag Rock Redoubt, climb up the first view tower.
- Cross the bridge and start climbing up the stairs.
- After the 4 sets of stairs, you’ll find a tent to your right with the corpse of a Wood elf.
Liar’s Retreat
Liar’s Retreat is located in the western part of Skyrim, northeast of Karthwasten. In addition to the Wood elf, you can also get the Longhammer weapon from this cave.
After entering the cave, head downstairs, and you’ll find the wood elf just behind the dining table.
Duskglow Crevice
Although you can find the Wood elf corpse inside Duskglow Crevice, you must progress further inside the cave to do so. The Duskglow Crevice is north of Weynon Stones, and the Wood Elf is in the third room.
The cave is also filled with a lot of Charus and Falmer enemies, so make sure to bring health potions before heading in.
Silverdrift Lair
Like the Duskglow Crevice, you can find the Wood Elf inside the Silverdrift Lair after progressing down the dungeon. The lair is located just west of the Duskglow Crevice.
You’ll find the elf lying on a bedroll in the room with the Skull and Thief book.
