For the lovers of magic, Elden Ring has a big library of sorceries and incantations. You will find spells that range from morbid dark arts, vicious blood magic, flashing beams of lights, exploding fireballs to gentle healing incantations. If you are an aspiring spellcaster, read on and learn how to memorize an arsenal of spells.
To start, you will need Memory Slots to equip magical spells. Memory Slots are like memory cards where you can install spells so you can cast them in battle. The more slots you have, the more spells you can carry into a fight.
Initially the player starts with 2 slots and can eventually increase these slots to 10. To increase the Memory Slots, find items called Memory Stones hidden across the Lands Between. Additional 2 slots can be added to a total of 12 by equipping Moon of Nokstella, a talisman item.

All Memory Slot Locations in Elden Ring
Roundtable Hold: Twin Maiden’s Husk
First and the easiest to find is one on the Roundtable Hold. You can access this location once you meet Margit The Fell Omen. Head there and find the Twin Maiden’s Husk, a merchant NPC. They will sell you your first Memory Stone for 3000 Runes.
Limgrave: Oridy’s Rise
Navigate to the Weeping Peninsula, an area in Limgrave. You will find a tower called Oridy’s Rise, marked in the map above. To unlock this tower, kill 3 wise turtle spirits found hidden just around this tower.
Location of the Turtle spirits
- First: Located across the entrance of the tower.
- Second: Go to the left side of the stairs, it is hidden in the bushes there.
- Third: Locate it in the pond, southeast of the tower. It is invisible.
After unlocking, reach the top of the tower to find the Memory Stone.
Liurnia of Lakes: Converted Tower
Navigate to the area marked in the map in Liurnia of Lake Region. You will find a tower. To enter you will need to scale the broken wall outside and jump to the roof. Get to the top of the tower to loot the memory stone.
Liurnia of Lakes: Tetsu Rise
Navigate to Lake Island shown above in the Liurnia Region. There you can see a towering structure called Tetsu’s Rise. You will need to find and kill three hidden turtles to unlock the tower. They are all nearby.
Location of the Turtle spirits:
- First: Located northeast from the tower.
- Second: On the top of a tree, southeast from the first turtle.
- Third: Southeast from the tower, down the cliff.
After you unlock, get to the top of the tower to find the memory stone.
Liurnia of Lakes: Raya Lucaria Academy
Defeat the Red Wolf of Radagon to obtain a Memory Stone. You can find the Red Wolf protecting the path that leads the Rennala, the Queen of Full Moon.
Liurnia of Lakes: Seluvis’s Rise
Navigate to the area shown on the map and find the tower. You need to talk to Ranni the witch to be able to enter this tower. Find her in the nearby tower called Ranni’s Rise. Talk to her to start her questline. After unsealing the tower, get to the top and you will find a chest. Inside the chest is your memory stone.
Caelid: Lenne’s Rise
Navigate to the area shown on the Map. Use the Spirit Spring located on the south of the tower to jump onto the balcony. Go inside and find the Memory Stone.
Mt. Glimmer: Hermit Village
Defeat the boss Demi- Human Queen Maggie nearby Hermit’s Shack to obtain the Memory Stone. She is a field boss who you will meet if you head from Hermit’s Shack area towards the Craftsman Shack area.
Where to Find Moon of Nokstella?
You can find this item under a giant throne in Nokstella, Eternal City. In the highest room of the city, you will find a chest. Be prepared to fight because there are few enemies guarding this chest.

How to Equip Sorceries or Incantations in Elden Ring?
- Head to the nearest site of grace and rest.
- Click on Memorize spell.
- You will be taken to a menu where you can equip and unequip spells. Choose the spells you want here.
Note that, Most spells take 1 slot of space to be usable in battle. But, there are spells like Giantsflame Take Thee which take up 2 slots by itself. Spells also have stat requirements just like weapons. Without meeting the stat requirement you won’t be able to equip them.
