Insurgency: Sandstorm, a tactical FPS game that came out in 2018, is a sequel to the game Insurgency. The game features high-paced action and Rainbow Six Siege-style gameplay where two factions fight each other to the death. It has middle-eastern settings, which gives players the feeling of being in an actual war.
Insurgency: Sandstorm features tons of weapons to choose from, and no matter what faction you end up choosing, none of them feels superior to another. The game features realistic gunplay and recoil as well.
And with a very short time to react, combat feels realistic as well. It has an easy learning curve and is beginner-friendly, so even players who aren’t too familiar with the genre can learn it with some hours of practice.
Like all tactical shooter games, this game is also very entertaining when you’re playing with your friends. Split-second decisions and teamplay are very rewarding in this game, and if you’re playing with someone you get along with, the matches become even more enjoyable. But the question remains: Can you play this game with someone who is on a different platform than you?
Crossplay between platforms is a major concern when it comes to modern video games. As every player have their own preference when it comes to buying a console, crossplay will be a huge factor when they’re deciding if they want to purchase a certain game. So, does Insurgency: Sandstorm have a crossplay? Let’s take a look.
Does Insurgency: Sandstorm Have a Crossplay?
The answer to this question is both yes and no. Insurgency Sandstorm does have a crossplay feature, but it is only limited to the same console. If you own a PS4, you will be able to play it with your PS5 friends. Similarly, Xbox One players will be able to play it with their friends who play it on their Xbox Series S/X. PC players, however, cannot play this game with other Xbox or PlayStation players.
The developer team has promised to bring this feature across different platforms in the future as well. So, PlayStation and Xbox players will be able to play this game with each other very soon. However, no such plan has been made for PC.
On Which Platforms are Crossplay Supported?
Currently, Insurgency: Sandstorm only supports crossplay between different generations of the same console (i.e., cross-generation). As an Xbox player, you’ll be able to play it with other Xbox players.
And PlayStation players will only be able to play with other PlayStation players. This feature will extend to both Xbox and PlayStation in the coming future, where they’ll be able to play with each other regardless of their platform.
Can PC Players and Console Players Play Together?
Although the developers have stated to make this game cross-platform between different consoles, they haven’t, unfortunately, they have not said anything related to PC. So, we can assume that PC players won’t most likely be able to play this game with console players.
If you’re a PC player are thinking of playing it with your friends who play it on consoles, then you might have to change your platform or find a different game.
