Is Far Cry 5 cross-platform? Ubisoft’s one of the latest release in the long running series has been a hot topic on social media. It is a beautiful looking open-world first-person shooter game. It has great graphics, a strong story plot, and obviously action-packed in-game possibilities.
Released on March 27th, 2018, Far Cry5 has received a lot of buzz for its new features including co-op mode. But is Far Cry 5 cross-platform?
Let’s take a look at what we know so far about whether or not it will be possible to play Far Cry 5 with friends on different platforms.
Is Far Cry 5 Cross-Platform?
Far Cry 5 is not a Cross-Platform as of today. This means you cannot play with your friends together if they are on different platforms. PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Google Stadia players cannot play together. You are limited to playing with your friends who are on the same gaming platform.
If you look at the present scenario of the gaming industry, you can see several gaming companies making cross-platform functionality available to their games.
To see such a great game having no cross-platform functionality is sadly a great disappointment.
CO-OP mode in Far Cry 5
The good thing is, if you wish to play with your friends then Far Cry 5 online has a cooperative mode (co-op) available. This mode allows you to play with your friends cooperatively.
However, it only allows a maximum of two game players only.
To play coop mode you and your friends must be on the same platform. Also if you are a PlayStation or Xbox player then you need to have a PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold Membership.
Here’s how you can play in co-op mode in Far Cry 5.
- First, you need to enable Cooperative mode in your game settings.
- Then, you have to invite your friends from the friend list.
- Once they accept, they can join your world and start playing.
Will Far Cry 5 ever be a Cross Platform?
Sadly, Far Cry 5 does not look likely to support cross-platform anytime soon. Ubisoft has not said or released anything regarding this particular feature support. Surprisingly, the most anticipated Far Cry 6 which was released recently, also doesn’t support cross-platform play.
The only thing you can do is to wait for Ubisoft to release cross-platform support for the game.
