Every weapon in Minecraft has fixed durability, and when that durability reaches 0, the weapon breaks, and all the resources you’ve spent on those weapon gets wasted as well.
However, you can repair these weapons before they break so that their durability increases, and you can use them a little bit longer. In this article, we have written a detailed guide on how you can repair your damaged bow.
How to Repair a Bow in Minecraft
A bow in Minecraft has fixed durability of 384, and every time you use it, you’ll consume one of its durability. And when this durability reaches 0, the bow basically breaks. There are quite a few ways to repair your damaged bow in Minecraft. We’ve mentioned all the methods that you can use to repair your bows (and other tools as well) in this article.
You can use any one of these methods, assuming you have the required tool to repair it. However, you may need to be careful if you have an enchanted weapon since some methods will ruin your enchantment and turn it into a regular one.
By Using an Anvil
Anvil is the best tool to repair your broken or damaged items in Minecraft, especially bows, as it can even fix enchanted bows. However, repairing items using Anvil will cost you some experience levels.
Given that the repaired items retain their enchantments even after the repairment, it is a very small price to pay as you can always earn experience levels in Minecraft.
To repair your bow using the Anvil:
- Open your Anvil, and put your damaged bow on the first slot of the Anvil.
- Then, on the second slot, put another bow.
- Collect the resulting bow and put it in your inventory.
By Using a Grindstone
Grindstone is another important tool in Minecraft that you can use to fix your damaged items and tools. However, unlike Anvil, when you repair your enchanted weapons with Grindstone, the resulting product will lose the enchanting effects. So, it is ideally not suitable to fix the enchanted bows.
But it is still a great tool to fix and repair your regular bows. To use Grindstone to repair your bow:
- Open your Grindstone and put the damaged bow in the first slot.
- And put another bow on the next slot.
- Now, collect the resulting bow and put it in your inventory.
By Using a Crafting Table
Crafting Table is used for crafting tools and items in Minecraft. So technically, you’re not repairing your damaged bow but combining two regular bows to craft a more durable one. However, it is a more cost-effective method, especially in the early stages of the game, since you may not have access to Anvil or Grindstone.
The only drawback of this method is that if you use it to repair your enchanted bow, the resulting product will lose all of its enchantments, and you’ll just get a regular bow with slightly more durability.
To use Crafting Table to repair your bow:
- Access your Crafting Table and drag two of your bows into the crafting slots.
- After that, you can see the resulting crafted bow on the right side of the crafting section.
- Simply drag the crafted bow to your inventory.
By Using a Mending Enchantment
This method is different from the rest of the methods we’ve looked at so far. This is because using Mending won’t immediately recover the durability of your bow. Instead, the durability increases slowly as you get more experience orbs.
Although getting a Mending Enchanted book can be quite a challenge, it is actually the best method to repair your damaged bows. The best part about this method is that you can even repair your enchanted bows using this method.
The way these method works is when you hold an enchanted bow with Mending (or any other items with Mending) at the time of getting experience orbs, it will repair the durability of your bow (or items) instead of increasing your experience gauge. It repairs two durability points for one point of experience in the experience orb.
