Crumbling Farum Azula is the final location of the main storyline in the Elden Ring. It is an enormous floating palace structure amidst a deluge of whirlwinds. It is located far off the main continents of Lands Between.
This place is filled with the remains of intricate arches and majestic towers. Closer inspection at some columns will reveal bones of beasts fused with rocks melted by dragonfire.
The environment of Farum Azula looks wildly mesmerizing. The torrents of violent winds seem to have lifted up several rocks in the air. These floating rocks and numerous soaring dragons perpetually fill the tan grayish sky to create an otherworldly setting of Farum Azula.
Crumbling Farum Azula is a tough location filled with dangerous foes. Make sure you are above level 100 and well equipped before you reach there. Also, ensure you have completed side quests and picked up some items you might not be able to later on. Note that after you burn down the Erdtree some areas become inaccessible and change permanently.
You will eventually reach Crumbling Farum Azula if you keep on progressing with the main story. The player is transported there once you light the Erdtree on Fire. This event takes place in the Mountaintop of Giants after following these steps.
- After you have defeated the Fire Giant boss, fast travel to the Site of Grace called Fire Giant
- Head to the top of the pot in the Forge of the Giants.
- Circle around till you find the Site of Grace located at the top.
- Rest at the Site of Grace and select Talk to Melina Option.
- Depending on your story progress and choices you have made, the dialogues might be different. But in the end either Melina or you will end up burning the Erdtree.
- After the cutscene you will find yourself in the Crumbling Farum Azula. Find the closest site of grace. Rest there and you can now fast travel between the Lands Between and Farum Azula.
Is There an Alternate Way to Get to Faram Azula?
There is another way to access a small section of Farum Azula from a teleporter in Four Belfries. Interact with one of the teleporters there that mentions “Crumbling Lands”.
It will also take you to Crumbling Farum Azula but the main part of the location is not accessible through here. You can pick up an item called Pearldrake Talisman. Apart from that, there is nothing else to do here.
The Lore of Farum Azula
Farum Azula was once the seat of the Elden Lord, before the Erdtree came to power. During the times of Dragons, the Elden Lord Placidusax ruled the realms from his seat in Farum Azula.
That was ages before the player gets to visit the location. Dragons now have been subjugated and almost eradicated, and Farum Azula like the name says is a crumbling ruin.
The player goes there to find an endgame boss Maliketh, the shadow beast of Queen Marika. Maliketh took the remaining piece of Rune of Death with him to Farum Azula. He hides and protects the fragment in this secluded location.
Farum Azula used to act as a prison for exiles during the reign of the Golden Order. There you will also meet many outcasts along with powerful beings imprisoned by the Order. Prepare to fight till your last flask.
