One of the most powerful summons you will find in the Elden Ring is yourself. Yes, you, but not exactly you. We are talking about your Mimic Tear that copies everything your character looks like, along with all the weapons and spells you are equipped with.
Despite the nerfs in the most recent patches, the Mimic Tear Ashes still remain a top-tier summon. Since the summon basically copies you, you need to have an awesome build to make your Mimic Strong.
All said it is one of the best Spirit Summons to use in the story mode. Most people claim, by using Mimic Tear, you are playing Elden Ring in easy mode.
There is a caveat though, you cannot find this overpowered Spirit easily. It is locked behind some formidable bosses and found in an area made for the optional storyline. Still, if your heart is set on this Spirit, let’s find it right away.
You will have to reach Nokron after defeating General Radahn to find this Spirit Ashes. You will also need to use up one of your Stonesword Keys.
Follow the detailed video guide and get your hands on this powerful summon.
Start on the Site of Grace called the Nokron, Eternal City, and follow the steps and the direction marked on the map.
- Fast travel to the Nokron, Eternal City Site of Grace, and exit towards the huge courtyard filled with enemies.
- Find a narrow staircase that leads you down from the courtyard to the open area and keep going down the path towards the huge gate in your sight.
- Before you find the Mimic Tear, you will have to fight the Mimic Tear. The huge gate leads to the boss fight arena where you fight the Mimic Tear. The best strategy is to unequip everything before entering the boss fight arena and let the mimic copy you, then quickly equip your weapons afterward and defeat the unarmed Mimic Tear.
- Take the new path from the Mimic Tear arena, traverse a long bridge with a view of Moghwyn’s Palace, and go to the left when you see the opening, you will reach the Ancestral Woods area.
- Take the path towards the left, along the cliff’s edge, and then along the rocks, soon you will find an opening between the rocks that opens to the Ancestral Woods Site of Grace.
- From the Ancestral Woods Site of Grace, bravely jump towards the buildings from the edge of cliffs.
- Follow the ledge and jump across to another ledge, and walk this edge along the in-between of the two buildings. Here you will be acknowledged with a Night’s Sacred Ground message on the screen.
- Jump to another building and then platform to the tower and then to the terrace where you will meet two Silver Tear enemies.
- From this terrace, diagonal from where you arrived, take a narrow path that leads to a broken bridge, take the bridge, and enter through the windows.
- Once you enter the windows, do not jump all the way down to where there is a huge metal ball, instead, go behind the glowing statue on the floor and you should see a little passage leading to a fog door.
- Before the fog door, there is a glowing statue. Insert a Stonesword key into the statue and the fog will lift.
- You will find yourself in a small prayer room with one enemy who is kneeling in front of a treasure chest.
- Best to vanquish this enemy before you open the chest.
- The chest has your prize, the Mimic Tear Ashes. Set it as your summon, upgrade it and you have unlocked the easy mode of Elden Ring.
The Lore of Mimic Tear
It undoubtedly incites curiosity, to see a spirit that takes the form of the player Tarnished, in a game full of deep lore. The Mimic Tear Spirit Ash is a legendary summon but is a result of a failed attempt to create an Elden Lord in the Eternal Cities.
Mimic Tear is among the rare spirit summons that consumes your HP instead of your FP when summoned. The other summons that takes your HP are usually ones that consume flesh but Mimic Tear does not consume flesh.
Some say it is because you are pulling out half of yourself when summoning the Mimic Tear.
In the game, we meet two Mimic Tear bosses who imitate us and fight us. One in Nokron and another inside the dungeon called the Hidden Path to Haligtree.
Also, when traveling through Nokron you will also find Silver Tear enemies, they imitate different characters that look humanlike and wield weapons, but unlike the Mimic Tears, the Silver Tears do not imitate us.
A Reddit user found cut content with quests regarding a Silver Tear called Asimi, who would be absorbed by us and will travel alongside the player Tarnished on our journey to become the Elden Lord.
Then later through our journey, it is said Asimi changes to our likeness and becomes a Mimic Tear who would carry on as Elden Lord after our reign ends.
