Valorant has a very simple gameplay. There are two teams of 5 players each, and the first team to win 13 rounds wins the game. If you are familiar with the gameplay, you should be aware that there are two factions that you have to play alternately. One is an Attacker and the other one, a Defender.
When you play as an attacker, your job is to plant the bomb and defend it. On the other side, as a defender, you should hold off the attackers till the timer ends or kill them altogether. The game automatically assigns you a role at the start and it changes after 12 rounds.
The bomb that attackers get at the start of the game is called a Spike in Valorant. One of the players on the attacker’s side gets the Spike at first.
This article will show you how to drop a spike in Valorant.
How to Drop Spike in Valorant?
Let’s say you, as an attacker, got the spike at the beginning of the game, but you don’t want it. You may also accidentally pick the dropped spike by walking past it. So, what to do in this case ?
You can simply drop the spike if you don’t want it. The game does not show you the tutorial to drop the spike. So, it is up to you to learn to drop the spike.
Luckily, you can easily drop a spike in Valorant in two steps using only two keyboard keys.
Here is how you can do it:
- If you pick the spike, press “4” first to equip the spike.
- Press “G” to drop the spike unless you have changed the key binding for dropping the equipped item.
Now, you can drop the spike any time you like. You can also give the spike to another player directly. For this, just go near the player and drop the spike, and the player will automatically pick up the spike. In the same way, you can also drop your weapons to give them to other players.
Why Drop Spike in Valorant?
There are many reasons players in Valorant want to drop the spike. Some do it as a part of team strategy, and some just don’t like to have the responsibility of carrying and planting it. In Valorant, there are currently 18 agents, and all have their own abilities and advantages.
Like in MOBA games, Valorant can also be played by assigning roles between players. You can play as a Support, Recon, Leader, or Initiator. The choice is up to the players. A great strategy is to give Spike to Supports or Recons as they play in the backline and hold the spike.
So, if you are a frontline agent and get the Spike, you can drop it for the Supports or Recons. Another strategy, gamers use in Valorant is to drop the spike in the starting area so that they can recon the area and take the spike to the safer space. This helps players keep the spike safe and out of opponents’ reach.
