One of the mechanics of Fortnite Chapter 4 is the “Capture Points.” You can gain these points by visiting different areas of interest on the map. You can then use these points to gain an advantage in multiplayer matches.
Standard rewards for claiming Capture Points are loot, marking enemies in nearby areas, and similar. Additionally, it gives you XP for your Battle Pass, as Capture Points are part of the “Weekly Quest” mechanic.
The problem is that the game doesn’t give you specific directions on where to go or what to do to get these points. Moreover, claiming these areas can be tricky.
Step 1: Find the Capture Point Areas
In essence, there’s a Capture Point in various named locations, but notably not in Megacity. These locations have either a padlock or a question mark icon on the map if you have not found it before. And once you find it, it will have a name on the map.
In essence, there’s a Capture Point in various named locations, but notably not in Megacity. These locations have either a padlock or a question mark icon on the map if you have not found it before. And once you find it, it will have a name on the map.
In specific, the hubs where you’ll find these points are:
- Anvil Square
- Breakwater Bay
- Brutal Station
- Frenzy Fields
- Faulty Splits
- Lonely Labs
- Shattered Slabs
- Slappy Shores
- The Citadel
- Steamy Springs
- Floating Island (it spawns randomly)
The chances of finding enemy players when claiming these points are high. Other players may visit these locations to trade with NPCs, heal, find loot, and take shelter.
Here’s a map pointing at the locations I listed:
- Anvil Square: Anvil Square is southeast of Breakwater Bay. Follow the road from the later location to find it. This is a small medieval town with loot to find and some NPCs to trade with.
- Breakwater Bay: This area is also on the map’s desert area over to the west. Particularly, it’s in the north-western side of the area. It’s mostly empty but has a vehicle and gas to drive it.
- Brutal Station: This is a popular landing location. It’s in the frozen area over to the North. It has a vault with loot, and you can access the vault on the left-hand side of the location.
- Frenzy Fields: This is a mining quarry on the south of the map. The area has arcade machines, and if you win these arcade games, you get a reward.
- Faulty Splits: This is an urban location in the southeast. It’s a ruined small town with vehicles and loot.
- Lonely Labs: It’s a laboratory on a secluded island. It’s on the northeast coast of the map. It has various hangars with loot and arcade machines.
- Shattered Slabs: It’s also a mining quarry at the southwest of the map. It has a medieval style and plenty of loot and materials. If you land here, make sure that you land on the higher areas above fighting off the high ground. Remember what happened to Anakin.
- Slappy Shores: It’s a large compound on the eastern coast of the map. It has decent loot such as shields and “Slap Juice,” which you can use for healing.
- The Citadel: This is an island on the northwest side, in Fortnite’s desert area. You’ll find an enemy NPC to defeat plus rare loot.
- Steamy Springs: The Steamy Springs location is a series of houses with Japanese architecture. It’s at the South of the map, and it usually has good loot such as the Kinetic Blade.
There’re additional Claim Point sites in unnamed locations, but I’ve not been able to find them all.
The 11th Capture Point spot is on Floating Island. It spawns randomly but usually around the center of the map. You can reach it by touching a blue vortex near or underneath the island. The Capture Point will be in front of the island’s house.
Step 2: Claim the Capture Point
Because the Capture Points are on the named locations, finding and claiming these rewards is a natural part of the Battle Royale matches.
So, once you find these sites, and if you manage to survive, you should head to the center of the area. There’s going to be a white circle plus a flagpole in the center, and you have to stand in that place for various seconds to claim it.
You’ll see a flag icon charging as you’re claiming the location. Doing it as you build to fortify the location can be easier. Moreover, you’d want to land nearby one of these locations and fight your way to the point.
You can claim multiple points in a match, and all players can claim the same points at different times. Nevertheless, raising the flag makes a lot of noise (a lot of noise), so expect resistance.
Lastly, claiming Capture Points gives you tons of loot and marks enemies in red for a short time after claiming the point.
Here’s a video showcasing what I’ve said so far:
